Yes, It's November, almost December 2003 and here I am posting the January update !! Over the Christmas 2002 holiday I made some jigs to aid me in making points. These points are no 6's and I made a left and a right jig. |
|
In this picture you can see all three jigs.
The long thin jig is for making track- either straight in the jig, or half track - ie I solder only one rail onto the sleepers. I then lay that on the layout glue down in the alignment I want, then solder on the other rail. |
|
The Jigs are basically the same, but on one I also put in a "V" soldering jig.
(As you can see next to this text) |
|
Yes I have used all three jigs, testing them out so to speak. Now to the points. They are no 6 points made using code 80 rail soldered onto copperclad sleepers. |
|
For these points I wanted to use "bladeless" points, as I didn't want the extra upkeep
of the joins. You can see I wanted to experiment in how to join the blades for operation.
I soldered a small bit off sleep to each blade, then using copper wire to join them. One side is of course insulated because they are soldered to the underneath of these sleepers. I also experimented by soldering one side, and passing the other through a hole to allow more pivoting. (see the photo on the left) |

Steve Coombs helped as well by finishing the dirt extraction. I can now cover all this dirt up ! |

That's all for January. |
