Update 8th September 2008 |

Had another working bee last Friday night.
Trevor, Roger & Graham turned up. The "unsunroom" has now got it's external frame around the walls, and we are now ready to prepare for the upper staging level. This will be built at a low height in three main sections. The one by one lifted up to it's high final position. Since this will take time it will be done well before the "mainline" reaches the unsunroom, since the station it leaves for to this area is not started yet. It needs some metal brackets made to hold it and the "Middle level" in place above the lower stagin yard. Back to the upper staging yard. My aim is as many longest tracks as possible. I do intend two railmotor stubended sidings as well. The track will most likely be code 100 but the points may still be hand made. Being a unsceniced area the whole area would not be painted, or need "fake" sleepers under the points. The only niggle is the rail size difference. I also had my DCC setup connected so Trevor could test out his locos. Roger had brought his Austrain 35 class so we could hear it's sound up & down the staion. We also tried out my train camcorder +carriage to see what the sound was like when filming. The next morning I went down and did some wiring of the upper station on the peninsular. Could get a DCC loco into far more placed then before and must admit wastes a far amount of time doing some switching. ONe point motor will need attention as the microswitch underneat does not activate witht he small amouint of throw for that particular point. I did some DCC programming as well, using a program booster. Two locos are RS at the moment, as small 4-4-0 12 class and a Co-CO X class, the 12's decoder does not seem to reset to program, or work !!! |
