The big picture: Update 1st April 2005

No April; Fools here, but a lot was done this weekend ( by my standards)

Once again I had the privilage to have a round robin group come and visit me to do work on my railway. Once again I had enought material for the night. And as usual what I thought we may have done was not what they wanted to do. That suits me as progress is progress. And while it seemed to them I were deciding ont he run, I like it that way as the decisions ar enot critical or harm what I want.

We focused ont he end of the main peninsular, putting in the frames and bracesa to bring the track around - literally. Several decisons were made - aisle width at the end, height, Radius for both curves on each level ( rememebr there a re two levels ont he peninsular).

Some bracing was done to the horizontal timber cross memebrs to stengthen them. The lower level got a few 45% angle braces. Two location got rectangle ply braces to shore up both levels.

In all a good working night.
But it did not stop there. Faced with all this construction I carried on myself the next day. I made a long section installed on the outsode wall towards & over the toilet. I then made the sections in that area as well that now join the peninsular to the upper level done to the top station.

I then ran out of the wood I wanted. So I started to play with the spline. Looks like I want to put in the second last station before I continue.

Stil alot to do - have to remove the toilet so I can build the lower level. Then I need spacial brackets to be made to hold up the top station at one end, the bracket there is not strong enough.

One of the hard working visitors did comment that the lower level is low, I agree it is more chair operated than anything. It also is less of a concern as most of the lower level is scenery and space between towns - ie you are running the train up the grade to the upper level effectivly. I see no problem. I know for a fact that some of my friends who may visit are shorter than I and would even have trouble seeing the upper level - so I cannot win for averyone. If I had raised the upper level up I would have no modeeling height. So I stand by my levels.
