I have been thinking about the upper station on the peninsular.

I want a triangle somewhere on the layout. Orginally it was to be at the top most station. On my
earlier plans I had it on this staion but jutting out into the room. I then as I built the
peninsular though I could squeeze one into the corner of the sun room as the mainine heads
into there on a "S" bend. It would be a extension of the headshunt.
That idea may also go. If I cannot get a triangle up at the top station I'll be unhappy. So I had another idea. See the above drawing/sketch As you look at the diagram you are directly above the upper station on the peninsular. The track at othe top is the same mainline at the bottom, having done a 180% turn. The track at the top is well above the track at the bottom. The idea of the triangle is it goes through a slot just hight enought for train clearance. In front I place a bridge with a tall semi trailer. I do the same ont he other side - a rail & road bridge, gain with a semi trailer. The bridge & semi trailer act as a view block. The triangle bit is in a cutting either side as well. The drawing/sketches below show the rough ideas from each side. What do you think ? Is it a clever way to utliase bothe areas fr the triang, or will it stick out like an eyesaw ? I did think to enclose it totally with access hatch on the top side rather than having the track visiable. But I want as little hidden/inaccessible trackage as I can. |

Wed 20th Update : The joy of practical looking in the train room. This concept will not work where I thought it might. Oh well - still an interesting idea ! |
