After the group who came over to help me left, work still went on, as per the April 1st report.
But I have continued work down in the room. Even ordered a truck delivery of some wood to keep me going
(it is hard to carry wood in a small Toyota Corolla)
I have got the lower station on the peninsular all down with ply screwed down for the main station area. I almost have the upper staion as well ready to be done. I have started on the layout's passage through the doorway into the sun room (hope soon to be the dark room). Then I Realised I have to put in some support for the top light valance. Better do that next before I do the upper station! I'm iching to try some spline laying, but I cannot start until I do the upper valance, secure the upper station, and start 1:1 track deisgn on that station soI can work out exactly where to start the spline. On the lower level there is to be a substancial bridge over a valley, and that requires t lowered benchework if almost 20 inches. The lower level that is under the station is not something I'm keen to do because it gives me access to the upper station above for construction etc. I seem to go down to do a bit of work every night I can. Look forward to it, which is good as the rate of progress has been slow, and there obviously enough there that I can do myself and not stop. A few friends came over and really noticed the progress. That's good and hopefully there will be more. I'll post a few photos here in a few days... |

Back in my update on the23rd of April 2004 I talked about Distributed vs Centralised Control. Well when one of my friends came over and saw progress he & I talked on for a while, and this ideas came up. The Distributed idea I think is a whole lot better. The diagram above is sort of what I'd expect at every station.
My ideas is the mini nodes Which can be programmed by the attached dedicated PC will handle their local situation, and also report back and receive control from the dedicated PC (which in turn communicates with the PC controlling the CTC panel, or internet CTC etc.). |
