Plan 2 - 3rd January 2006
Yes more plans. This is still a minimal plan, but with a lot simpler comapred to plan 1
The plan was drawn on paper, photographed by a digital camera then "drawn" on to produce the
rough plans you see here. EMRC mmeber may see the scale plans when I return to Melbourne.
It is partial double deck with two helixs. It does not use the shed for access reaons. There
is one duckunder, and that is to the toilet area - which you can see I have not used. Outside
access is also in that area. Having no duckunders is good, at the expense of complexity.
The lower level is the main level for the railway, the hight level rises above the staging
yards basically. Both helixs are only 2-3 turns, and the helix at "P" mat be the only one
needed. for the spiral at "H" may be only a single turn, depending on grade from
"A" to "D" and from "i" to "M".
No names yet, but every station/interlocking area has a letter.
Shall we have a closer look? Let's do a trip around the system
"A" is one end of the staging yard (the other being "P"). The staging yard has but 7 roads,
one express, and six storage yards. There is two stub ended siding at each end for railmotors.
We head right ove the old Pineridge viaduct into a small passing loop"B" Then through
the wall into "C" a remote oil siding. We plunge through the "sealed window"
and into the next room. We pass the mine siding "D" before reaching "E" - this town
is one of our grain silo towns.
Around the peninsular to "F" - the station on the whole layout. Loco is desinated
"G", as it may keep a extra operator busy. The line heads through the backdrop
straight into a up spiral "H". At the top is the junction "i" that leads to the
small tereminus of "J".
This now upper deck passes over the "C" and into a small passing loop "K". Through
the wall back to the original room we pass a set of siding "L", then we enter the town
of "M". A branch to "N" , being a mine branch. Then the main heads down the spiral at
"O" that takes us traight into the staging at "P".
that complets the trip around the railway. It still has a long mainline, caters for 7-10ft trains, and many more smaller ones.
There three stations as well as simple passing loops.
This layout may still keep 5-7 people busy. Still not a walkaround design.
Note in both plans, not all walls, especially external wall shown at proper thickness, as they have no bearing on the plans.
